A particularly meaningful journey has just come to an end. Over the past six Fridays, after working hours, our facilities welcomed not only our female colleagues, but also the daughters, wives and other family members of IRSAP employees for a personal self-defence course.
Through these lessons, we aimed to provide basic practical knowledge and tools that may help participants respond to an emergency situation.
This course is just one of the initiatives we have introduced to address the issue of gender-based violence and bring this conversation into the workplace, where we spend much of our daily lives.
We are aware that this is, first and foremost, a cultural issue. For this reason, the self-defence course represents an additional tool alongside other concrete actions, such as the refurbishment of the red benches and the training session organised in November with the Peter Pan Association, which manages the “Un nuovo maschile” project, a centre for men who have committed acts of violence.
Our heartfelt thanks go to all the participants and to Andrea Bigoni, our colleague from the Purchasing Department and a martial arts instructor, who guided the group and provided valuable advice.
