The apartment is located just beyond central Bari, a short distance from the sea, with outstanding views of the coastline. The original layout did not fully take advantage of this relationship with the waterfront, so the client’s main request was to open up the interior towards the sea.
The project focused on reorganising and refining the spaces in order to bring clarity and balance to the open-plan layout. Rather than relying on walls or fixed partitions, the different areas were defined through an intricate interplay of ceiling levels.
Particular care was devoted to the large ceiling feature above the dining table, which was designed to convey a strong sculptural presence. Its form draws on the movement of the sea, as well as on domes and Mediterranean geometries.
Energy efficiency was also a key consideration throughout the project. High-performance window systems were installed, together with highly insulated, airtight shutter boxes. Great attention was paid to every stage of installation, from the thermal break treatment at thresholds and window sills to the use of expanding polyurethane sealing tapes.
The window frames feature innovative profiles with a slim, clean-lined design. By maximising the glazed surfaces, they enhance both the sea views and the amount of natural light entering the apartment.
