This renovation in the El Born district—one of Barcelona’s most artistic, historic, and lively neighborhoods—has transformed an apartment once divided into several small, dark rooms into a bright, open living space filled with natural light.

The project began with the removal of all internal partitions to create a spacious and luminous open-plan layout. The original wooden beam structure was reinforced with steel beams, and the entire floor—previously in very poor condition—was leveled, while preserving a portion of the original hydraulic tile flooring. The original wooden windows were reinstalled, and the interior woodwork was carefully restored.

A modern, functional bathroom and a contemporary open kitchen were also introduced.

A custom wooden and white partition unit separates the bedroom from the living area, while allowing the exposed beams to pass through, maintaining a unified perception of the space.

The interior designer chose to preserve the original architectural structure and turn it into a highly functional organizational solution.

The final result is an optimally arranged space where the living room and kitchen form the welcoming area encountered upon entering the home, while the more private zones are discreetly hidden beyond a long corridor painted in a bright white tone.
